Where Did the Yankees Play in 1974

The New York Yankees played their home games at Shea Stadium in 1974.

The Yankees moved out of the original Yankee Stadium after the 1973 season to allow for a two-year renovation project to be completed.

(The current Yankee Stadium is a new build that opened in 2009 and has a seating capacity of 54,251 as of 2022.)

The move came less than a year after shipbuilder George Steinbrenner bought the Yankees for $10 million. The updated Stadium opened for the 1976 season and set the stage for a Bronx Bomber rejuvenation that yielded four World Series appearances between 1976 and 1981, including back-to-back championships in 1977 and 1978.

As Shea Stadium was the home of the New York Mets, the two New York teams shared a home field (Shea) in 1974 and 1975.
